Governor Greg Abbott appointed Clay Carr as District Attorney for the 84th Judicial District in Hansford and Hutchinson Counties, effective September 1, 2026, for a term set to expire December 31, 2028, or until his successor shall be duly elected and qualified.
Clay Carr of Borger is an assistant district attorney for the 84th Judicial District Attorney’s Office. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas and the Texas District & County Attorneys Association and treasurer of the Hutchinson County Bar Association. Additionally, he is a board member for HOPE and Meadowlark Hill Park, former board member for the Tralee Crisis Center for Women, Top of Texas Crime Stoppers, and the Children’s Shopping Tour, and a coach for the Tri County Youth Little League. Carr received a Bachelor of Business Administration in General Business from West Texas A&M University and a Juris Doctor from Oklahoma City University School of Law.
